FUNDRAISING FOR SETTLEMENT OF TERRITORIES FAILED

A few years ago the policy of settlement of territories was launched
which, however, ended up in a gloom. On June 25 Kiro Manoyan, in
charge of political affairs and hay dat of the ARF Bureau, commented
on this issue at the Pastark Club.
"Three years, seven years ago the ARF Dashnaktsutyun initiated
pan-Armenian fundraising for settlement. The patriarchs, the
national parties, the benevolent organizations were supposed to
participate. An agreement had been prepared to sign. It was supposed
to be signed in Echmiadzin, therefore many people had arrived in
Armenia. At the last moment the signing was cancelled for different
reasons. The main reason, I think, is political. The worry that if
we organized settlement, we would undergo pressure, I think that was
the reason. And I say we must resist pressure," says Kiro Manoyan,
ARF Bureau, in charge of political affairs and hay dat.
According to him, so far we have feared pressure, and had no
results. It even had a negative impact. Kiro Manoyan says the
settlement of territories requires a national policy not government
funds.
