    IRAN TO SUPPORT REGULATION OF NAGORNI GARABAGH CONFLICT WITHIN THE FRAMES OF TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY OF AZERBAIJAN

    Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mamadyarov, met with
    his counterpart, Manuchekhr Mottaki, being in Tehran.

    Bilateral, regional and international issues were discussed, view
    exchange on bringing our relations to higher level was held.

    Expansion of bilateral economic cooperation was focused on, number
    of joint projects was discussed. While analyzing perspectives of
    cooperation in transport sphere, ministers particularly exchanged the
    views concerning natural gas transportation, extracted in the Central
    Asia, to Azerbaijan through Iran, possibilities of Iran's joining
    pipe-line Baku-Tbilisi-Jeykhan, transport corridor North-South,
    projects Nakhchivan-Bilasuvar, Julfa-Julfa and Astara-Astara.

    As for religious issues, ministers emphasized significance of
    establishing peace and stability in the region.

    M. Mottaki took interest in E. Mamadyarov's position in connection
    with Russian initiative concerning Gabala radio-locating station.

    Official representative of Azerbaijan declared that Gabala
    radio-location station belongs to Azerbaijan and it can be transferred
    to any country only if Azerbaijan's consent is available.

    He stressed that in case of Azerbaijan-Russian-USA cooperation it
    may turn to be stability factor for the region.

    Minister E. Mamadyarov especially emphasized occupation of Azerbaijani
    territories by Armenia, having underlined that it is serious threat
    for regional stability. He informed his Iranian counterpart on talk
    process held to regulate the conflict.

    M. Mottaki declared that his country advocates regulation of conflict
    between Armenia and Azerbaijan within the frames of territorial
    integrity of Azerbaijan. Iranian official spoke of situation relating
    to Afghanistan and Iraq. Ministers discussed situation in the Middle
    East and recent developments in Palestine. Iranian diplomat highly
    evaluated E. Mamadyarov's activity as representative of Foreign
    Affairs Ministers' Council within Organization of Islamic Conference.

    Ministers held press conference upon termination of the meeting.
