KAROLOS PAPOULIAS: TURKEY SHOULD IMPLEMENT PRECONDITIONS PUT FORWARD AGAINST ITS MEMBERSHIP OF EUROPEAN UNION

YEREVAN, JUNE 26, NOYAN TAPAN. Turkey should respect and implement
the preconditions put forward against its membership of the European
Union. The Greek president Karolos Papoulias stated this at the June
26 press conference during his state visit to Armenia. According to
him, Turkey cannot pursue the goal of joining the EU until it keeps
its 35 thousand-strong army in Cyprus, a EU member state.
