YEREVAN-BATUMI-YEREVAN PASSENGER EXPRESS TRAINS TO RUN SINCE JULY 1

    Noyan Tapan
    Jun 27 2007

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, NOYAN TAPAN. Passenger express trains will run in
the direction of Yerevan-Batumi and in the opposite one from July
1 until September 16. This step was taken in order to organize
the summer holiday of the population in the Black Sea resorts in
Georgia. According to the information provided to Noyan Tapan by
the Public Relations Department of the RA Ministry of Transport
and Communication, the train will be comprised of two and four-seat
    comfortable soft-seated compartment carriages.

The Yerevan-Batumi train will leave Yerevan on the odd days of the
month at 21:10 and will arrive in Batumi (Makhinjauri) at 16:20 by
Georgian time. The train will start off from Batumi (Makhinjauri)
on the even days of the month at 08:50 and will reach Yerevan at
05:35. The express train will have stops in the stations in Armavir,
Gyumri, Vanadzor, and Sanahin in the territory of Armenia.

According to the agreement made between Armenia and Georgia, the fees
for passenger transportation will be the same for both Armenian and
Georgian trains, in difference to the previous year. The following
tariffs were defined for the Yerevan-Batumi route in July: 18 thousand
and 124 drams for two-seat compartment carriages, and 9 thousand
and 3 drams for four-seat compartment carriages. It should also be
mentioned that the tariffs of transportation made by Georgian trains
last year made 21 thousand and 256 and 10 thousand and 524 drams
    (about 30 U.S. dollars), respectively.
