French presidential candidate against Armenian Genocide bill

policy. And I am against the Armenian Genocide bill,' presidential
candidate of France and leader of Christian Democrats François Bayrou
stated. Bayrou said, he does not think `the first law recognizing
genocide is affirmative'. `French president can say `I believe in
genocide' representing the country. However, it is wrong to enact this
as a law. Thousands of Armenians experienced a tragedy at the
beginning of the last century. But this should not be a matter of law;
it should be a matter for historians.' Bayrou stressed.
