OPEN HOUSE IN AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF ARMENIA

YEREVAN, MARCH 19, ARMENPRESS: American University of Armenia
(AUA) announced on March 17 an open house giving the applicants an
opportunity to get acquainted with the details of entrance exams. Deans
and students of different faculties presented to the applicants the
terms of studying, the rules and the curriculum of the departments,
the advantages and prospects.
Dean of the Jurisprudence Department Thomas Samuelian said that every
year 25-30 students enter the department and added that the number
of applicants is increasing annually. According to him, they include
such subjects in the curriculum of the faculty which present to the
students the juridical principles and institutions worldwide. The
students also fulfill their curriculum by their own research works,
assignments etc. The students of the university may also study at
leading American and European universities.
Karine Satanian, coordinator dealing with entrance affaires, noted
that this year some changes took place in the entrance system: if
during previous years the applicants were taking TOEFL exam in one
day, this year several days will be given for the exam. The first
exam of 2007 will be conducted on April 2. In all the departments the
applicants must take English exam and have specialized education or
working experience.
The open house also gives the applicants an opportunity to get
acquainted with the conditions of the university, auditoriums,
laboratories and the library. The open house is also being conducted
in the Armenian provinces.
The Director of the AUA's students' affairs office Marry Lackie
presented to the applicants the terms of financial assistance to the
students and the terms of entrance exams.
The university has also been accredited by the USA Western Association
of Schools and Colleges which will give the university and its students
wider opportunities.
