Duties of Chairman of Republican Party of Armenia to Be Fulfilled by
Defense Minister

The Chairman of the Board of the Republican party of Armenia, RA
Defense Minister Serzh Sarkisian will fulfil the party's chairman
duties in view of the death of RA Prime Minister Andranik Margarian,
RPA's spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov told ArmInfo. He said that
according to RPA statute, in the absence of the party's chairman, its
duties are fulfilled by the Chairman of the Board. To note, according
to RA Constitution, after vacation of Prime Minister's post, the
Government tenders its resignation, after which the President appoints
a new Prime Minister within 10 days, while a new Government is formed
twenty days later after his appointment. That is, a new Government
should be formed on April 26, and the parliamentary elections will be
held in Armenia 16 days later. After the first session of the new
Parliament, the Government has to tender its resignation again.
