AZERBAIJANI PRESIDENT INVITES KING OF MOROCCO TO VISIT AZERBAIJAN

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayeva / Muhammad Benaissa, the
Moroccan Foreign Minister, said in a meeting with his Azerbaijani
counterpart, Elmar Mammadyarov, that Morocco supports the peaceful
resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh
and backs Azerbaijan's position in this issue. Anar Medetli, attache
at the Azerbaijani embassy in Morocco, stated by telephone on 4 May
that the meeting was held within the framework of the Azerbaijani
foreign minister's official visit to Morocco.
Mammadyarov thanked the king of Morocco for the support demonstrated
at the international organizations in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue
and informed the Moroccan minister of Azerbaijan's support in the
resolution of the West Sahara problem.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani foreign minister conveyed a letter
from the Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev to King of Morocco Muhammad
VI, to invite him to Azerbaijan on an official visit. In his turn
the foreign minister of Morocco informed Mammadyarov of Morocco's
intention to open an embassy in Azerbaijan. The embassy will commence
its activities in Baku in due course.
The parties held an exchange of opinion on the development of political
and economic co-operation between the two countries. As a result
of talks, the ministers signed an agreement on non-visa visits for
persons with diplomatic, service and special passports.
Medetli announced that Mammadyarov also participated in an event
dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of ISESCO,
held a meeting with the ISESCO Secretary-General, Abdulaziz bin
Osman al-Tuweijri.
During the visit the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister will tour the
Moroccan cities Fess and Casablanca as well as visit the Islamic
Shopping Center in Casablanca.
The Azerbaijani foreign minister will leave Morocco on 5 May to
accompany the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on his official to
Egypt on 6 May.
