CRIMINAL CASES INSTITUTED ON BASIS OF 6 REPORTS CONNECTED WITH ELECTIONS AT RA PROSECUTOR GENERAL'S OFFICE

YEREVAN, MAY 3, NOYAN TAPAN. At the May 3 working meeting with RA
President Robert Kocharian, RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepian
presented the process and results of examination of signals and reports
connected with the upcoming parliamentary elections. According to his
data, 23 reports have been registered at the Prosecutor's Office. They
are directly or indirectly connected with the electoral process. It
was mentioned that criminal cases were instituted on the basis of 6
of them.
A. Hovsepian said that the special working groups formed in the
prosecutor's office register, check and examine all reports received,
employees of prosecutor's office also analyse media publications and
efficiently check how much they are connected with the elections.
RA President charged RA Prosecutor General to ensure publicity of
reports and decisions made on the basis of them.
According to the report provided to Noyan Tapan from RA
President's Press Office, at the meeting they also touched upon the
activities of Coordinating Council of Prosecutor Generals of CIS
countries. A. Hovsepian said that the next sitting of the Council
will be held in Yerevan.
