"ARMINCASATSIA" ORGANIZATION TO CARRY NECESSARY ELECTORAL DOCUMENTS TO
    ELECTORAL DISTRICTS

YEREVAN, MAY 4, NOYAN TAPAN. Starting from May 5, members of the RA
Central Election Commission (CEC) will visit marzes in order to meet
with heads of the district election commissions (DEC) and explain
their functions during the voting. The CEC Secretary Hamlet Abrahamian
said this at the May 4 press conference. In his words, such meetings
are necessary to avoid mistakes due to possible ignorance of the
newly-formed DEC members of the Electoral Code and electoral process.

The CEC secretary noted that on May 9 the chairmen of all the 41
district election commissions of Armenia will receive from two Yerevan
printing-houses the necessary number of ballots, envelopes and other
documents for holding the elections by the majoritarian and
proportional electoral systems. "Armincasatsia" organization will
carry these documents to electoral districts.

According to H. Abrahamian, representatives of the mass media may be
present at the process of distribution of these documents from
printing-houses. They may at any moment go to "Tigran the Great" and
"Blankhrat" printing-houses where printing of ballots started on May
    3.

According to a decision of the RA CEC, ballots for elections by the
proportional system will be printed in 2.38 mln copies, which is more
by about 2% than the total number of voters and is within 3% allowed
by the Electoral Code. H. Abrahamian said that the total number of
ballots for elections by the majoritarian electoral system will make
fewer than 2.38 mln, taking into account the fact that servicemen,
prisoners and persons receiving in-patient treatment will participate
in the voting by the proportional electoral system. The number of
majoritarian ballots printed for each electoral district will also
exceed by 2% the number of voters.

In response to a reporter's question, the CEC secretary explained that
no new ballots will be printed in the event if court invalidates the
registration of a candidate for deputacy or a party after the ballot
printing - the name of the given candidate or party will be crossed
    out in the ballot.
