Presidential elections: Armenians of France face serious dilemma
    05.05.2007 14:06 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ `On Sunday May 6, French Armenians of France will
vote to elect the new president of the French Republic. Which is the
choice, Segolen Royal or Nicolas Sarkozy,' independent French
journalist Jean Eckiyan writes. On the left side, Segolen Royal,
indicated by socialist party, carrying progressive ideas, is favorable
to the entry of Turkey in the European Union, but she will respect the
result of the referendum submitted to French on this question. She is
also for adopting the bill, which penalizes denial of the Armenian
Genocide. ARF Dashnaksutyun supports Segolen Royal's candidacy.

On the right is Nicola Sarkozy indicated by liberal party UMP. He is
for the revival of French economy and work development. Resolutely
against entry of Turkey in Union, former Minister of Interior will not
be opposed to the bill condemning the negation of the Armenian
Genocide and ensures that he will fight `against any approach
negationnist in connection of the Armenian Genocide'. ADL Ramgavar
    supports Nicola Sarkozy's candidacy. `On May 6, 2007, 400,000 French
of Armenian origin will have to make a choice,' Jean Eckiyan told the
    PanARMENIAN.Net.
