ARMENIAN TV SHOWS VICTORY DAY MILITARY PARADE IN NAGORNYY KARABAKH REPUBLIC

A military parade began in the capital of Nagornyy Karabakh at 1000
[0500 gmt] this morning. It was dedicated to our major victories at
the end of the 20th century and the anniversary of the NKR [Nagornyy
Karabakh republic] defence army.
The presidents of Armenia and of the NKR [Robert Kocharyan and Arkadi
Ghukasyan], the Armenian speaker [Tigran Torosyan] and NKR government
members were on the rostrum.
Representatives of all services of the NKR defence army paraded in
the square. Armoured vehicles and aircraft were also involved in the
parade. The parade was led by the chief of the general staff of the
NKR defence army, Maj-Gen Movses Hakobyan. The parade was observed
by commander of the NKR defence army Lt-Gen Seyran Ohanyan.
In his congratulatory speech, President Ghukasyan spoke about the
persistent will of the victorious people and its ability to unite. He
said that Armenians realized that they defended their homeland
when they heroically fought on distant battlefields. Years later,
during battles for the NKR's liberation, volunteers from Artsakh
[another name for Nagornyy Karabakh], Armenia and different parts of
the diaspora won victories.
