    CENTRAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION RATIFIES INITIAL RESULTS
    OF ELECTIONS

    YEREVAN, MAY 13, ARMENPRESS: Armenian Central
    Electoral Commission (CEC) ratified at its 5:00 p.m.
    session the initial results of the yesterday's
    parliamentary elections. Basing on the results of the
    voting in the polling stations, the CEC registered
    that from 2 million 316,038 people 1 million 389,521
    participated in the elections.
    The established 5 percent barrier was overcome by
    the Armenian Republican Party which has received
    457,032 votes, `Prosperous Armenia' party which has
    received 204,443 votes, Armenian Revolutionary
    Federation which has received 177,192 votes as well as
    Orinats Yerkir and `Heritage' parties which got 95,256
    and 80,890 votes respectively.
    The rest votes were distributed in the following
    way:
    The National Democratic Party - 8,591 votes.
    The National Accord - 4,251 votes.
    The National Unity - 49,863 votes.
    The Dashink (Alliance) - 33,093 votes.
    The People's Party - 37,034 votes.
    The Democratic Path - 8,468 votes.
    The Impeachment bloc - 17,808 votes.
    The Democratic Party of Armenia-3,780votes.
    The Youth Party of Armenia - 2,303 votes.
    The People's Party of Armenia - 23,629 votes.
    The Communist Party of Armenia - 8,835 votes.
    The Marxist Party - 2,896 votes.
    The Hanrapetutyun (Republic) - 22,609 votes.
    The United Labor Party - 59,307 votes.
    The New Times Party - 47,018 votes.
    The overall number of inaccuracies is 10,942.
    The report was not signed by the representative of
    `National Unity' party Zaven Pluzian, Sona Sargsian,
    representative from `Orinats Yerkir' party and
    representative of `Ardarutyun' (`Justice') alliance
    Felix Khachatrian.
    Sona Sargsian stated that `Orinats Yerkir' party is
    planning to appeal the results of the elections at the
    Constitutional Court.
    Representative of the `Ardarutyun' alliance
    suggested that the initial results of the elections
    under the single-mandate system be recognized invalid.
    According to Felix Khachatrian, during the elections
    such breaches were registered which could have their
    impact on the results of the elections. The suggestion
    was put into discussion and was rejected.
    The Central Electoral Commission will publicize the
    final results of the elections no later than in seven
    days, that is to say until May 19.
