    REACTIONS

Turkey's Helsinki representative Kenan Doðulu's mother Serpil Doðulu
expressed that Kenan Doðulu was crying after the contest. "He was
very sentimental, cried for one hour. I tried to console him. He
wanted to fly the Turkish flag at the top" she said. Kenan, who
represented Turkey with the song "Shake it up Þekerim" finished
the contest 4th. Before leaving Helsinki, Kenan gave speech to the
Turkish press in Helsinki: "There's not much to say. Everyone heard
the winning song and the one which followed it. To me, ours was the
best, but couldn't reach the top. There was some political voting. I
am surprised and also sad that Balcan countries voted for each other,
though I know that it's possible. I don't remember what the winning
song was like." Kenan Doðulu said that other entrants expressed that
they liked the Turkish entry. "I feel like I won. Everybody here liked
both our song and our show. I'm happy we got 12 points from UK, France,
Belgium, Netherlands and Germany." Concerning the "Turkish 12 points"
to Armenia, Kenan said: "I and the Armenian entrant had no problem
between. We always congragulated each other during the rehearsals,
and got happy about the 12 points."

Consolation from Sarbel While leaving The Crown Plaza Hotel, Kenan
Doðulu came across with the Greek representative, Sarbel and they
talked for a while. Sarbel congragulated Kenan Doðulu saying "Your
performance and song were exuberant, I'm happy for Turkey". Sarbel
said: "I'm happy for being together in top 10 with Kenan. He's
a flawless singer." It had been discussed for a long time before
the contest that the chorus parts and the melodies of the Greek and
Turkish entries were alike. Turkey gave 4 points to Greece, but once
again she couldn't get any votes from the Greek audience.
