ARMENIAN PARTY ACCEPTS ELECTION RESULTS

Yerevan, 15 May: "The ARFD [Armenian Revolutionary Federation
-Dashnaktsutyun] regards the 12 May parliamentary election as a
progress in conducting democratic elections up to international
standards," a statement released by the ARFD supreme body reads.
The party stressed the importance of high turnout of voters that
it a manifestation of [people's] will to form the government on
their own. At the same time, the party said that such events as
coercion and the bribing of voters had not been fully prevented. In
addition, some parties had failed to secure their seats in electoral
commissions. "There were cases of vote rigging during the electoral
process and we were trying to prevented them. Nevertheless, these cases
have not affected the election result," the statement further reads.
The ARFD regards the election as being valid and accepts the
preliminary results.
