DIFFICULT TO PREDICT WHAT ELSE MAY HAPPEN IN TURKEY IF TENSION DOES NOT REDUCE IN COUNTRY

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The ruling Justice and Development (AKP) party in
Turkey is not going to change the constitutional order of the country,
senior research assistant Vahram Ter-Martirosyan stated at the round
table on domestic political situation in Turkey organized by the
Turkish Department of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the RA
National Academy of Sciences. He said Islamists will again prevail
in the future parliament, which will be elected on July 22.
He said Recep Tayyip Erdogan leads the country through the way of
"Islamic democracy". Almost 500 laws have been adopted in Turkey during
the recent 5 years, and some experts say they will help the country
to integrate to the European Union. Nevertheless, the General Staff of
Army keeps its dominant role and it is still difficult to predict what
else may happen in Turkey if tension does not reduce in the country.
Turkey's President Ahmed Necdet Sezer can use his veto power and reject
the legislation on holding early parliamentarian elections. Though
I think he will not do that and will meet half-way Premier's party,"
Ter-Martirosyan underscored.
