  • BAKU: Provocation Attempted By Armenians Via Website Of US Departmen

PROVOCATION ATTEMPTED BY ARMENIANS VIA WEBSITE OF US DEPARTMENT OF STATE PREVENTED

    Ïðaâî Âûaîða, Azerbaijan
    Democratic Azerbaijan
    May 22 2007

One more provocation of Armenians against Azerbaijan was prevented
    in USA.

Announcement which conflicts with national interest of Azerbaijan was
written on special page of official website of US Department of State
for foreign students. It reads that 20-25 June conference on "Role
of Shusha in Armenian History" will be held and everyone interested
in this are invited to this "event". In announcement the name of town
is given as "Shusha", and it is pointed out that Shusha is "cultural
center of Armenians", its role in "liberation movement" during Garabagh
war is also said. Among persons who organize the event the names of
Minister of Education of the so-called "Nagorni-Garabagh Republic",
Kamo Atayan, and head of "State University Arzakh", Hamlet Grigoryan,
    are mentioned.

We should remind that official Baku and Azerbaijani community in
USA are investigation this fact. Ministry of Foreign Affairs charged
Embassy of Azerbaijan to USA to explain the fact of presentation Shusha
on internet page of Department of State https://alumni.state.gov as
Armenian town. For a short period Embassy clarified information and
removed website information of the Department of State.

Our students studying in USA also expressed their protest in connection
with this provocation. Their letter addressed to coordinator of
site said that USA recognized territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,
it was demanded to remove this announcement. Coordinator of site
while removing this announcement extended apologies to Azerbaijani
community. By the way, coordinator of site highly evaluated reaction
of Azerbaijani students in response letters, understanding how sacred
    Shusha is for Azerbaijanis.
