ISTANBUL, MAY 22, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. The 80th birthday
anniversary of untiring editor of the Marmara daily and publicist
    R. Hatechian and 40th jubilee of his accepting the post of the Marmara
editor-in-chief took place the other day at the Nazar Shirinoghlu hall
of the Surb (Saint) Vardanants church of Ferigyugh, Istanbul. The
hall was full of co-thinkers and admirers of Hatchian's work and
literature. They watched with great interest the ceremony which lasted
    about 3.5 hours.

According to the Marmara daily, the first speaker of the day was
Armenian from Aleppo, favourite intellectual, old employee of Marmara
and lover of R. Hatechian's literature Levon Sharoyan who chose
    R. Hatechian's editorial work as the theme of his speech.

The second speaker of the day, poet Ikna Sariaslan created an
unprecedented enthusiasm with his speech, by working out of quite
unique data and making new reveals through syntax of names.

After the artistic part of the event, the Holy Kondak conferred
by His Holiness Patriarch was read which was listened to standing
up. His Holiness Patriarch appreciated in his Kondak R. Hatechian's
contribution as a writer and editor, mentioning that he is well known
both in Armenia and whole Diaspora.

    R. Hatechian himself entered the stage at the end and addressed his
speech of gratitude and thanks to those present. He said that the
Armenian literature as well has its Nobel prize which is identified
with this ceremony and that he is as much happy this night how much
he would not be if he got a Nobel prize.
