REGISTRATION OF PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDERS KICKS OFF IN KARABAKH

Karabakh will be held May 30 - June 19, 2007, NKR CEC chairman Sergey
Nasibyan said.
The contenders and their empowered persons will receive certificates
and establish headquarters. A schedule of meetings with the voters
for presentation of election programs will be compiled as well.
The election campaign will last June 20 - July 17. The presidential
election is due July 19.
The NKR CEC has filed four initiative groups of presidential contenders
- Bako Sahakyan (chief of the NKR National Security Service), Masis
Mailyan (NKR Deputy Foreign Minister), Armen Abgaryan (NKR National
Assembly member) and Vanya Avanesyan (lecturer of the Artsakh State
University). The NKR Communist party council has decided to nominate
Hrant Melkumyan, the party leader, Novosti Armenia reports.
