On November 7, in conjunction with the Government of Armenia and its
Anti-Corruption Strategy Monitoring Commission, the USAID Mobilizing
Action Against Corruption activity, with co-funding from UNDP,
organized a conference marking the development of the new National
    Anti-corruption Strategy of Armenia.

The speakers of the conference included US Chargé d'Affaires Joseph
Pennington, Minister of Finance and Economy Vardan Khachatryan,
Minister of Education Levon Lazarian, UNDP Resident Representative
Consuelo Vidal, Council of Europe Special Representative of the
Secretary General Bojana Urumova, OSCE Deputy Head of Office Marc
Bojanic, the Chairman of Anti-Corruption Strategy Monitoring Commission
Gevorg Mheryan, Transparency International-Armenia Chairwoman Amalya
Kostanyan, representatives of government agencies, NGOs, media,
    and the international community.

The main objectives of the Conference were as follows: â~@¢To make
the general public, civil society activists, and international donor
community aware of the Government of Armenia agenda and plans about
the fight against corruption, and, in particular, about development of
a new multi-year anti-corruption strategy, action plan, and monitoring
system with key performance indicators; â~@¢To inform the development
of new Anti-corruption Strategy (Phase 1) by inviting main groups of
stakeholders to present their viewpoints and recommendations for the
new Anti-corruption Strategy in terms of priorities, policy directions,
content or structure of the strategy paper; and â~@¢To introduce the
USAID/Armenia Mobilizing Action Against Corruption (MAAC) activity
to stakeholders and the public in general.

The conference will provide an opportunity to make the process
of developing the new Anti-corruption Strategy more open and
transparent. The aim of the conference was to launch a broader
discussion among key stakeholders including NGOs, mass media,
    government agencies.
