GAS CONNECTIONS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED THROUGHOUT ARMENIA WITHIN NEXT YEARS

YEREVAN, November 14. /ARKA/. Gas connections will be accomplished
throughout Armenia within a couple of next years, Armenia's Minister of
Energy Armen Movsisian said at the session of the Armenian Parliament.
In the last four years about 400,000 subscribers got connected to the
gas network with the total number of subscribers reaching 480,000,"
the Minister said. In the next years, gas connection will be provided
to some 600-650,000 subscribers. Movsisian also said that the gas
communications under competence of ArmRosgasprom Armenian company
are not being dismantled in the country.
As of November 1, 496,297 subscribers are connected to the gas network.
ArmRosgasprom Closed Joint Stock Company enjoys the monopoly for
delivery and distribution of the Russian natural gas on the domestic
market of Armenia. The gas is supplied via Georgia.
The company was founded in 1997. Currently its capital totals
$398.8mln. The shareholders are "Gasprom" Open Joint Stock Company
(57.59%), Ministry of Energy of Armenia (34.7%) and "Itera" oil-gas
company (7.71%).
