BUSINESSMEN FATHER AND SON MARTIROSIANS SUBJECTED TO ARMED ATTACK

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 29, NOYAN TAPAN. As a result of an argument between
the owners of Father & Son Martirosians LLC and some customers in
Yerevan's Silikian district at about 4 p.m. on November 28, the father
- Karlen Martirosian and his son Hrant received bullet wounds and
were taken to hospital. According to a report of "Shant" TV company,
the persons who had shot at Martirosians took to flight, leaving
behind their Mercedes car at the scene of the incident. According
to witnesses, there were 10-15 attackers, including 4-5 armed
persons. According to a family member, a certain Arman, who owns a
shop in Sayat-Nova Street, "introduced himself as the son-in-law of
the former RA minister of communication Eduard Madatian, said that he
bought stones from the Martirosians 6 months ago and owes them 1,000
dollars, and then a quarrel broke out for non-payment of this sum".
Doctors say that the lives of both father and son Martirosians are
out of danger. Karlen Martirosian, 63, underwent an operation at
"Armenia" medical center and his wounds are of medium severity. His
leg's function will be restored. The wounds of Hrant Martirosian, 33,
who was operated at "Nork-Marash" traumatologic center, are severer
and, in the opinion of doctors, the function of the injured knee will
not be restored.
