Azeri Islamic party leader dubs USA enemy of Muslims

The new chairman of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan (IPA), Haci
Movsum Samadov, has dubbed the USA an enemy of the Muslim world in an
interview with the Azerbaijani website Day.az.

He made the statement when asked to comment on a recent resolution by
a US congressional committee recommending that the US House of
Representatives should recognize mass killings of Armenians in the
Ottoman empire in the early 20th century as genocide.

"Here is another proof of US policy with regard to Muslim countries.
The USA is not very considerate in dealing even with those Muslim
countries that are its allies. Our fraternal Turkey has been a
faithful ally of the US in the Middle East for a half a century, but
the USA is now treating it without much ceremony. The thing is that
the USA is irritated by any Muslim country regardless of that
country's attitude. All this should serve as a lesson to Azerbaijan
    too," Samadov said.

"The USA is an enemy of the Muslim world, and it will never agree to
any Islamic state growing stronger. But the fact that the USA has got
stuck in Iraq and Afghanistan indicates that the day when the Islamic
world defeats Satan is coming soon," he added.

Samadov listed "crimes against humanity" committed by the USA,
including the war in Iraq, the bombardment of Hiroshima during World
War II and the treatment of native Indians in America. He also lashed
    out at Israel and Zionists.

Speaking about his own background, he said: "My background is
medical. I have been involved in the national liberation movement and
have been an active member of the Islamic Party since the day it was
set up. I was elected the party's chairman at its congress this
    year."

Samadov denied that his party is being financed by Iran, recalling
that this would be illegal. He complained about a lack of funds for
    the IPA.
