WASHINGTON - Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House of
Representatives, may not table the motion she has backed
acknowledging claims that the Ottoman Empire committed an act of
genocide against its Armenian citizens during the first World War.

The motion was approved by the House of Representatives Foreign
Relations Committee by a vote of 27 to 21. However, support for the
    motion is falling.

On Thursday, a cross party group of 49 members of the House,
including senior representatives such as Ike Skelton, the chairman of
the Armed Services Committee, and Silverstre Reyes, head of the
Intelligence Committee, sent a letter to Pelosi urging her not to
schedule a vote on the Congress floor.

On Wednesday, Pelosi said it was not clear whether the Armenian
resolution would be submitted to the House for a vote.
