CBA ISSUES "ARMENIAN VIPER" AND "TROUT" COMMEMORATIVE COINS

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 23, NOYAN TAPAN. On October 22, 2007, the Central Bank
of Armenia (CBA) put into circulation the silver commemorative coins
"Armenian Viper" and "Trout" which were issued under the international
program "Caucasian Animal World" on animals included in the Red Book
of Armenia.
The coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia is depicted on the obverse
of the coin "Armenian Viper", below which the nominal value of the
coin is given in Armenian and English "100 drams". The year of issue
"2007" is inscribed above the coat of arms. The obverse is edged
with a striped circle. "Repulic of Armenia" in Armenian and English
is inscribed on the coin between the circle and the edge.
An Armenian viper is depicted on the reverse of the coin. "Vipera
Raddei" in Latin and "Armenian Viper" in Armenian is inscribed in a
circle near the edge. Two arrows are made in red enamel (above and
below) between the depiction and the inscriptions.
The coat of arms of the Repblic of Armenia is depicted on the obverse
of the "Trout" commemorative coin, below which the nominal value
of the coin - "100 drams" is inscribed in a circle in Armenian and
English. The year of the coin's issue -"2007" is given above the
coat of arms. The obverse is edged with a striped circle. "Republic
of Armenia" in Armenian and English is inscribed in a circle between
the circle and the edge.
A trout is depicted on the reverse of the commemoraive coin. "Salmo
Ischchan" in Latin and "Trout" in Armenian is inscribed in a circle
near the edge. Two arrows are made in red enamel (above and below)
between the depiction and the inscriptions.
The commemorative coins have a transparent cover and a certificate
of authenticity and are placed in a leather case. They were coined
at the mint of Poland. The Polish designers R. and A. Novakovski are
the authors of the design of these commemorative coins.
The nominal value of the coins is 100 drams. They are made of silver
(925+-5 alloy). Their weight is 28.28+-0.25 grams, diameter -
38.61+-0.15 mm, the number of coins issued - 3,000.
