    CANADIAN SPSC TRANSCOM LTD TO IMPLEMENT CONSULTATION ON TRANSFERRING ARMENIAN RAILWAYS TO CONCESSIONARY MANAGEMENT

    YEREVAN, October 25. /ARKA/. Canadian SPSC Transcom Limited will
    implemented consulting services of transferring Armenian railroads
    to concessionary management, the RA Government's press service told
    ARKA. During its session the Government approved the results of the
    contest on providing consulting services on transferring Armenian
    railroads to concessionary management, held on August 1 according to
    the program of reorganization of the Armenian railroads financed by
    the International Development Association.

    Earlier Armenia's Transport and Communications Minister Andranik
    Manukyan said that the Armenian railroads will be transferred
    to concessionary management on January 15, 2008. According to the
    decision of the RA Government of October 12, 2006 "Armenian Railroads"
    CJSC was planned to be transferred to concessionary management for
    30 years with the right of prolongation up to 20 years. According
    to the terms, the concessionaire should implement investment of USD
    170mln within 10 years, mainly, for the rehabilitation and purchase
    of 1200 wagons and locomotives.

    "Armenian Railroads" CJSC is 100% state company, the owner of
    the main part of the country's rolling stock and almost the whole
    railroad infrastructure (930.8km - according to the Armenian National
    Statistical Service). "Russian railroads" and Indian RITES (Rail
    India Technical and Economic Services) passed the pre-qualification
    for participating in the tender of transferring Armenian railroads
    to concessionary management.
