    RA FOREIGN MINISTER'S OFFICIAL VISIT TO HUNGARY STARTS

    BUDAPEST, OCTOBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. RA Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian,
    who is in Hungary on an official visit, met with Hungarian Foreign
    Minister Kinga Goncz on October 30. During the meeting, the parties
    touched upon bilateral relations, possibilities of cooperation
    at the current stage. They attached importance to possibility of
    cooperation with Hungary within the framework of the Armenia-EU
    Actions Plan. Mentioning that interest in South Caucasian states has
    considerably increased in EU lately, K. Goncz stressed that official
    Budapest encourages EU's efforts of activization of eastern direction.

    The Ministers also discussed possibilities of activizing cooperation
    mentioning pharmacy, information technologies, tourism as primary
    spheres, which have considerable potential of cooperation. In
    this context they agreed to contribute to replenishment of the two
    countries' legal-contractual base.

    As Noyan Tapan was informed by the RA Foreign Ministry Press and
    Information Department, then the interlocutors exchanged thoughts over
    international issues, regional developments, relations with neighboring
    states. K. Goncz presented Hungary's position on the Kosovo problem. In
    his turn, V. Oskanian presented the latest developments in the Nagorno
    Karabakh settlement negotiations process.

    Touching upon the crime committed by the Azeri officer to the Armenian
    officer in 2004, V. Oskanian expressed his satisfaction with the
    fair decisions made by the Hungarian judicial system mentioning that
    the Azeri party's demands to hand over the criminal to Azerbaijan
    are inadmissible.
