`Avetis' non-governmental organization has been founded on September
14, 1989 by N 421 decision of the Government of the Republic of
Armenia, it has been re-registered on April 26, 1999 by the N 678
decree of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.
The organization carried out an activity of providing fair and
veritable information on the events round ethnic conflicts of the
region and about karabakh-azerbaijanian war. A number of films have
been created, videotapes have been released, books and articles have
been published. In the focus of attention of the organization there
were also Lezghistan-Azerbaijan, Avar-Azerbaijan, Tolish-Azerbaijan,
Abkhazia - Georgia, South Ossetia -Georgia, Javakhk-Georgia,
Kurdistan-Turkey, interethnic issues of Russia, Turkey, Iran conflicts,
the studying and seeking opportunities of their peaceful resolution or
prevention.

`Photochronicle of the 20th century local conflicts' and placing in the
website www.photo.avetis.org aims to show local conflicts and universal
tragedies - the Genocide of Armenians in 1915, the Genocide of Pontos
Greeks, the Holocaust, a genocide in Cambojia, Rwanda, Darfur (Sudan),
wars in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Iraq, revolts in
Hungary and Czechoslovakia, interethnic conflicts in Caucasus, the
Balkans, Cyprus, Turkey, Northern Ireland, Sri Lanka, the countries of
Basques ¦ The purpose of the museum is the study and prevention of
local conflicts.
The museum periodically will organize exhibitions in the various
countries with the help of Internet, it will exchange exhibitions,
cooperate with the corresponding international organizations. Except
for constant exposition studies, documents concerning to subject of
conflicts, their prevention and peaceful co-existence will be published.
For studying the conflicts and exchanging the experience in the matter
of their prevention and involving many experts, `Avetis'
non-governmental organization has opened a Forum in its website, where
various issues are discussed, concerning to diverse conflicts. The
purpose of the organization is to influence over the international
opinion about the opportunity of prevention of any conflict, that all
depends on societies.
The organization having in view the discussions of those or other
actual issues at a forum will organize scientific symposiums,
conferences by attraction corresponding experts from the various
countries, involving specialists from the parties to a conflict.
The museum asks photographers ` reporters, who in due time covered
those or other conflicts and wars, as well as corresponding
organizations and persons owning photo collections for the organization
of photo-exhibition and for the exposition of the museum to send to
address of the museum original photos or their digital variants. The
quantity of sent photos is not limited. The organization commits itself
to keep photographer, as well as organization and person copyright.
