KOCHARIAN TAKES TER-PETROSYAN'S RETURN GOOD-NATUREDLY

"Robert Kocharian takes the RA first president's return
good-naturedly," RA President's Press Secretary Victor Soghomonyan
informed A1+ today. It is upon Levon Ter-Petrosyan to decide his
further steps.
During an interview to German "Spiegel" magazine, Robert Kocharian said
that he sees only Serge Sargsyan as the RA next president. According
to Victor Soghomonyan none of the candidates possesses Sargsyan's
skills as a state and political figure.
In answer to A1+'s question how Robert Kocharian treats to Heritage's
bill on the NKR recognition, Victor Soghomonyan said Kocharyan had
told Slovenian "Delo" magazine that in case the OSCE Minsk group
negotiations failed the recognition of the NKR independence would
ensure NKR people's security.
The Republic of Armenia has de facto recognized the Nagorno-Karabakh
independence. Robert Kocharian's presence at the NKR president's
inauguration testifies to this, Victor Soghomonyan said.
According to the President's press secretary, Robert Kocharian is
well aware of "stripping" initiated by various top officials. "Surely
the relevant bodies are assigned to take measures and to see to
the matters."
"I have studied some cases and I must confess that press does not
present them in compliance with the reality," Soghomonyan said.
Afterwards, Sognomonyan presented Kocharyan's plans for the incoming
week. Later this week Kocharian will leave for a one-day non-official
visit to Batumi at the invitation of his Georgian counterpart Mikhail
Saakashvili.
The presidents of the two countries will discuss a whole spectrum
of questions of Armenian-Georgian relations. Among others, the two
Presidents will refer to the problems of Javakhk
At the beginning of October Kocharian in the recurrent summit of
Presidents of the CIS member states in Dushanbe. In the same city,
RA President will take part in the summits of the Collective Security
Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EvAzES).
On October 10-12 Kocharian will visit Brussels to meet with the heads
of European structures. The RA President will also visit Finland on
his Finnish counterpart's invitation on an official visit.
