ARMENIA AND GREECE INTERESTED IN DEEPENING INTERPARLIAMENTARY RELATIONS

    ArmRadio - Public Radio, Armenia
    Sept 26 2007

September 26 Speaker of RA National Assembly Tigran Torosyan
received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece,
Mrs. Panayota Mavromikhali on the occasion of completion of the
    latter's mission in our country.

The Ambassador thanked the NA Speaker for the two years of productive
and interesting work and informed that a Deputy Friendship Group with
the Armenian National Assembly will be established in the newly elected
Greek Parliament and the next Ambassador will have the opportunity
to deepen the interparliamentary relations, which, according to her,
have always been on a high level.

Highly appreciating the Ambassador's activity in Armenia, Tigran
Torosyan wished success to Mrs. Mavromikhali in her further activity
and assured that she will always remain a friend of Armenia.

Turning to interparliamentary relations, Mr. Torosyan noted that by
the end of the year the Deputy Friendship Groups will be formed in
both Parliaments and the frameworks of cooperation will be determined.

The NA Speaker noted that the agreements reached as a result of
negotiations between the Presidents of the two countries have opened
new opportunities for broadening the bilateral relations in the
future and these opportunities create new perspectives, since the
two countries have not only political and historical similarities,
    but also common interests.

The interlocutors attached importance to reciprocal visits as an
important factor for development of relations.
