Regulation of Armenian-Azerbaijani Conflict Armenian Prime
Minister, Serge Sarkisyan, holds that talk process on peace
regulation of Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorni-Garabagh conflicts is
going on efficiently and there are chances to regulate the conflict
peacefully. He stated it at the press conference in ITAR-TASS in Moscow
during his first official visit as Prime Minister. Head of Armenian
government also said that Armenia recognized independence of Nagorni
Garabagh untimely and talk process is not finished yet. S. Sarkisyan
underlined that status quo, that is no peace no war, doesn't suit
Armenia. Accordingly to him after all this problem should be solved
and Armenia is interested in good relations with all its neighbors.

Answering question of AzerTaj correspondent "what is the compromise
Armenia can agree on, and what is expected from Azerbaijan",
    S. Sarkisyan, declared that if the answers to such questions were
sincere and honest then there would be no need in talk process. "Of
course we endeavor to compromise less the same concerns Azerbaijan.

But there are two very important principles: principle of territorial
integrity and principle of self-determination of nation. I think we
should recognize principle of territorial integrity and Azerbaijan
should recognize the right of nation to self-determination. If we
reach it, then we won't have to explain the limit of compromise, and
I'm sure we are following this way as reason, international practice
require it and events of the last months show it", said head of
    Armenian government.

On commenting the large autonomy status proposed by Azerbaijan as this
very compromise, S. Sarkisyan declared that there can't be autonomy
larger than in 1988 and Azerbaijan understands it. I think it is not
solving of the problem", he answered.

Answering questions of representatives of Russian mass media on
recognition of Nagorni Garabagh by Armenia, Serge Sarkisyan, said that
it is done untimely, however, it is not ruled out, "maybe it won't
be resorted to". "I think it is such a radical step consequences of
which is difficult to imagine and it is not easy at all to speak what
way we will resort to it", he underlined.

While expressing his attitude to the issue whether sides are imitating
talks and this imitation more fits Armenia to maintain status quo, head
of state declared that talks have perspectives and are not finished. He
emphasized that sides can't put all peculiarities of talk process to
the table as many people will try hard to frustrate this issue. "But
I'm optimist and I hold that the issue has good beginning. Anyway I
realize perfectly that we and Azerbaijanis are destined to live side
by side. Neither we, nor they will flee. Solving of this problem will
be favorable for us and for Azerbaijanis. The issue can be solved
through compromise in case both sides will understand problems of
    each other", said S. Sarkisyan.
