Tigran Sargsyan 'We attach great importance to understanding of
processes taking place in Iran'. Armenia will "do everything
to maintain good relations with Iran, deepen and expand them."
The statement came from Armenia Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan,
speaking to the participants of the media forum of CIS countries.
A few days ago Armenian Prime Minister returned from Iran, where he
was on an official visit. Referring to the state policy toward Iran,
Sargsyan said: "Our policy is very open - being a small country, we are
open to our Russian, American, European and Iranian counterparts",
the prime minister said. "We openly say the same thing everywhere,
and our position in this regard is clear: we will do everything to
maintain good relations with Iran, deepen and expand them. "
"It's of vital importance to Armenia, we have no other choice, and
our friends are well aware of this", stressed Sarkisyan. "That's
why we cannot apply very many stiff mechanisms proposed for Iran",
he confirmed.
"We attach great importance to understanding of processes taking place
in Iran", the premier said further "We have concerns that this boat
cannot be shaken, because the regime that is now in power in Iran,
provides stability in this country - a very difficult country where
the ethnic composition has its own characteristics".
"If there is a difficult regime in this country, we will have negative
developments in the region, which will affect the situation in the
world", said Sargsyan, according to ITAR-TASS.
