Azerbaijani army officer Ramil Safarov, who serves a life imprisonment
in Hungary, may be extradited to Azerbaijan.
Public TV quoted sources in the Foreign Ministry as saying.
On return from Hungary, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf
Khalafov said he was hopeful that issue regarding Ramil Sarafov's
extradition would be solved.
"This issue may be reviewed as part of the humanitarian assistance
convention of the Council of Europe where both Azerbaijan and Hungary
have a membership. Hungary will review this issue once it is raised,"
the deputy FM added.
Ramil Safarov was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Budapest Court
in 2004 over charges of killing Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan
during NATO exercises in Hungary in 2004 for insulting the flag
of Azerbaijan.
