AMBASSADOR: THE BILL ON CRIMINALIZING OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE DENIAL IS IN THE THE CENTER OF THE FRENCH AUTHORITIES' ATTENTION

The bill on criminalizing of the Armenian genocide denial is in the
center of the French authorities' attention, French Ambassador to
Armenia Henri Reynaud said at today's press-conference in Yerevan.
"When in January 2012 the French Parliament circulated a draft bill
criminalizing the Armenian Genocide denial, the law appeared to be
on the agenda of the France's Constitutional Council. In the result
of the study the Council did not adopt the bill due to its being
non-harmonized with the French Constitution", - Henri Reynaud said
and added that no clear dates have been defined for the "return" and
discussion of the bill at the Senate. "Currently the corresponding
authorities are working in that direction to harmonize the bill", -
