HERITAGE'S NEW CHAIRMAN WILL BE DECIDED AT PARTY CONGRESS IN SPRING

YEREVAN. - Opposition Heritage Party Chairman, ex-presidential
candidate and former FM, Raffi Hovannisian is not planning on
leaving Armenia and transferring his capacity as party chairman to
Vice-Chairman Armen Martirosyan, the latter told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Martirosyan commented on the rumors that US-born Hovannisian is
going to settle back in the United States and that he wishes to see
Martirosyan as the new Chairman of the Heritage Party.
In Martirosyan's words, however, Hovannisian is the chairman and
leader of the party.
"In all likelihood, we will convene a congress in spring, the congress
will have to elect a new [party] board, and that new board will decide
who the chairman of the party is.
"But the matter of changing Raffi Hovannisian has not been discussed,
and he is not planning on leaving anywhere; he will live in Armenia,"
Heritage's vice-chairman said.
Armen Martirosyan added that Hovannisian is continuing to perform
the duties as the party leader.
