GOOGLE CARRIES BLACK MOURNING RIBBON TO REMEMBER VICTIMS OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

    YEREVAN, April 24th. / ARKA /. Google's front page carries a black
mourning ribbon today in memory of the victims of the Armenian
Genocide, Armenian cyber security expert Samvel Martirosyan writes
on his page in the Facebook.

"Although Google did not use the word" genocide, "still it is
unprecedented on its part," Martirosyan says.

According to him, the black ribbon is visible only on the Russian
and Armenian versions of the search engine - Google.am and Google.ru.

Martirosyan explained that the black ribbon is not a doodle. "Google
never places doodles on tragic themes,' he said.

A few months ago the website Charge.org launched a petition urging
Coogle to place a doodle on April 24 - the day of remembrance of the
victims of the Armenian Genocide, 'in order to tell the world about
    this tragic event.'

A Google doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on
Google's homepage that is intended to celebrate holidays, events,
achievements and people. The first Google Doodle was in honor of the
Burning Man Festival of 1998, and was designed by Larry Page and Sergey
Brin to notify users of their absence in case the servers crashed.

Martirosyan said also the hashtag # GenotsidArmyan was the leading in
the Russian segment of Twitter. He said in France among top hashtags
there are two Armenia-related hashtags # Armenie and # genocide1915.

Martirosyan said he had investigated the Turkish segment of
Twitter, where one of the most trending hashtags is # Gallipoli100
    #ErmeniSoykirimi (the Armenian genocide).-0-
