ARMENIA ASSESSES POSITIVELY DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF ARMENIAN-BULGARIAN RELATIONS, VARTAN OSKANIAN SAYS

YEREVAN, JANUARY 10, NOYAN TAPAN. Armenia assesses positively
the development process of Armenian-Bulgarian relations and aims
to strengthen and deepen further the bilateral relations. The
Armenian foreign minister Vartan Oskanian stated this on January 10
during a talk following the handing of a copy of credentials by the
newly-appointed ambassador of Bulgaria Todor Marinov Staykov. The
minister said that Armenia attaches great importance to close
cooperation of the two countries both in European structures and
international organizations.
According to the RA MFA Press and Information Department, the
newly-appointed Bulgarian ambassdor also expressed satisfaction at the
active cooperation and assured the Armenian foreign minister that he
will spare no effort in order to strengthen bilateral relations and
make them most meaningful.
Reference: Todor Marinov Staykov was born in 1953 in Sofia. In 1975
he graduated from the Lvov Army Political Institute, in 1982 - from
the Diplomatic Academy of Russian MFA. In 1982, he worked as third
secretary at the MFA of Bulgaria. In 1987-1990, he was Bulgaria's
deputy resident representative to UNIDO and UN international bodies
on control of narcotic drugs. In 1990-1993, he served as the head of
the technical cooperation unit of the department of international
economic organizations of the Bulgarian MFA. In 1995-1997, he was
Bulgaria's deputy ambassador to the U.S. In 1997-2001, he held a
number of positions at state and private organizations.
In 2001-2004, T. Staykov was the CEO of Balkanpress company, while
in 2004-2007 he was the manager of Viva Associated company. He is
fluent in English and Russian.
