SERGE SARGSYAN GAVE A SURPRISE TO GEGHAMYAN
The leader of the National Solidarity Party Artashes Geghamyan and
the head of his election office Alexan Karapetyan, as well as other
NS leaders, held a news conference on January 11. Alexan Karapetyan
stated that Levon Ter-Petrosyan's political activity is the
instrument and project of the government. He explains that the media
which support Ter-Petrosyan criticize Geghamyan more than the
government. In addition, he says the criticism by the
pro-Ter-Petrosyan media appears on TV channels which are controlled
by the government.
The leader of the National Solidarity Party Artashes Geghamyan who is
a presidential candidate said Levon Ter-Petrosyan is the most
convenient opponent to Serge Sargsyan because the government has a
lot of facts against him, and if necessity occurs to reveal those
facts, Ter-Petrosyan will get into trouble. Geghamyan thinks Levon
Ter-Petrosyan is not a strong candidate, and the reporters exaggerate
his rating. As to rumors that he is Serge Sargsyan's protege,
especially that Serge Sargsyan used to criticize him, whereas now he
praises him, Artashes Geghamyan says: `Serge Sargsyan gave me a
political evaluation, and I was pleased to hear because it gave me a
surprise. When you disregard your personal attitude, and consider the
problems of the state as primary, assess a political activist in
terms of state building and reinforcement, it means you are a real
patriot. This is the message of Serge Sargsyan's statement. Which is
not typical of Levon Ter-Petrosyan,' Artashes Geghamyan said.
Geghamyan's deputy Sargis Muradkhanyan said to be dissatisfied with
the candidates of the Orinats Yerkir Party and the ARF Dashnaktsutyun
which `take for granted Levon Ter-Petrosyan's words that except for
the candidate of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun and the Orinats Yerkir Party
all the other candidates carry out the orders of the government.' `If
you say Levon Ter-Petrosyan said something so he had the reason for
that, maybe you should have the courage to confess that you are on
his side. It would be more clear to both people and us,' Sargis
Muradkhanyan says.
