500-600 PRE-ELECTION HEADQUARTERS OF VAHAN HOVHANNISIAN TO FUNCTION THROUGHOUT ARMENIA

YEREVAN, JANUARY 17, NOYAN TAPAN. Real elections are the clue to
Armenia's strengthening. Armen Rustamian - the head of the pre-election
headquarters of Vahan Hovhannisian, representative of the ARF Armenia
Supreme Body, the ARF's candidate for RA presidency - stated at the
January 17 press conference that this formula will form the basis of
the ARF's pre-election campaign strategy.
He said that 500-600 pre-election headquarters of V. Hovhannisian
will function throughout Armenia, with 1,923 propaganda groups being
involved in their work. The electronic version of the ARF candidate
has already been made available, while the printed version (5 thousand
copies) is at the publication stage. The main slogan of the ARF at
the elections will be "Our Old Friend - New President of Country".
A. Rustamian announced that the ARF has commission members in all
polling stations and also has some resources to replace them in case
of necessity.
The party's candidate will also have a person empowered to act for
him at each polling station.
According to A. Rustamian, social groups of supporters adjunct to the
central pre-election headquarters will operate. These groups will
also participate in propaganda campaign. The party intends to use
the so-called method of agreements. Until now 117 thousand papers,
which state the obligations assumed by V. Hovhannisian (bearing
his signature) and provide data on the voter who has agreed to give
his/her vote for V. Hovhannisian, have been printed.
A. Rustamian said that at present the pre-election headquarters are
examining the lists of voters. Information on dead persons, citizens
absent from the country and non-existing persons will be classified by
an office that was set up at the central headquarters for this purpose.
