My beloved child,
One day, the Armenian land slipped away from under my feet, shattered
by foolish hatred.
As I fell, with a cry, I held you tightly against my body to shelter
you from the unspeakable.
The heat was intense and I was worried about your health.
By God's will, you pulled through.
For in the land of cross-stones and for the crime without a name,
