    JU NE 30

It is said in the new resolution No 1620 on activities of democratic
institutions in Armenia, which was passed by the PACE on June 25 that
"in itself, the format and composition of the parliamentary ad hoc
commission" on examination of the March 1-2 events in Yerevan and
their causes "does not guarantee the independence and impartiality
of the commission, therefore, its reliability from the point of view
of the Armenian public". Sharing the opinion and concern of the PACE,
the "New Times" party has postponed the decision on its participation
in the ad hoc commission's work until September, is stated in the
June 30 reply letter sent on hehalf of "New Times" party's leader
Aram Karapetian to the chairman of the RA National Assembly ad hoc
    commission Samvel Nikoyan.

"On the other hand, taking into account the important fact that in
the coming months our country will be under PACE's monitoring, and
in this connection high-ranking officials of PACE will visit Armenia
to follow the fulfilment of requirements of the resolution No 1620
on the spot and to present the respective reports, "New Times" party
will follow with great attention the work of the commission headed by
you and will decide the issue of its participation in this commission
based on the degree of efficiency of the commission's work," is said
in a press release of the "New Times" party's press service.
