YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 10, NOYAN TAPAN. "Knowing well Russian political
elite, I can confidently say that they will not limit themselves to
recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Then Russia will activize
its actions in the Crimea, as it has got into the habit of managing
in the Black Sea." Stepan Grigorian, the Chairman of the Analytical
Center for Globalization and Regional Development, stated in his
interview to Noyan Tapan correspondent.
According to him, further the situation connected with Abkhazia and
South Ossetia will develop by the scenario of North Cyprus, as Russia
failed to achieve recognition of independence of these two formations
by its allies in Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Collective
Security Treaty Organization.
Among the main reasons, because of which Russia intervened into the
Georgian-South Ossetian conflict, S. Grigorian mentioned striving
for fulfilling the conception of a "multipole world" voiced as far
back as in 2007 by Vladimir Putin. "Russia understood that without
concrete actions it will not be able to fulfil the conception of the
multipole world."
The other main reasons, in political scientist's opinion, were Russia's
striving for not permitting membership of Georgia and the Ukraine to
NATO and breaking all oil and gas, as well as transport projects of
the West in the South Caucasian region.
