YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 11, NOYAN TAPAN. The action of protest of members of
the Armenian National Congress (ANC) and wives of imprisoned opposition
activists envisaged on September 11 in front of Council of Europe
Armenian Office did not take place. Arriving in the envisaged place,
the action participants were informed that the office had moved to
another place. They tried to find out the new address of Council of
Europe Office from those in the building, but the latters refused to
    tell it.

Melisa Brown, the wife of former RA Foreign Minister Alexander
Arzumanian who is currently imprisoned, said in her interview to
journalists that she nevertheless will find the Council of Europe
representatives and hand over the letter of political prisoners'
wives to them. In response to the question of whether she sees a
political implication in not warning them about Council of Europe
Office move M. Brown said that she does not exclude political motives.

Touching upon the demands of the envisaged action, M. Brown said
that they have not changed and regard releasing their relatives
arrested for their political views. "We wish just today to remind
their representatives (Council of Europe representatives: NT) of
our demands, as the issue of Armenia is to be heard at the Council
of Europe Parliamentary Assembly today," she said. In her words,
European officials should at last notice and admit the fact that the
RA authorities undertake nothing in the direction of implementation
    of PACE Resolutions N 1609 and 1620.
