WE ARE GOING TO WIN, NO DOUBT

    [07:49 pm] 23 September, 2008

Former Deputy Prosecutor General Gagik Jhangiryan was welcomed with
a round of applause as he entered the court session hall and said
the following after he congratulated everyone on the occasion of
Independence Day: "Next year, we are going to celebrate that day
    together in a new Armenia."

Witnesses Arsen Aghanikyan-head of the 5th department-and Tigran
Karapetyan-3rd department worker-were prosecuted today during Gagik
Jhangiryan's trial. Whereas the first witness did not remember who
had ordered him to "disarm the armed" and only remembered that it
was one of his bosses, the second witness mentioned that they had
received the command from deputy head of the main department on the
fight against organized crime Karen Babakekhyan. As a matter of fact,
in the preliminary testimony the first witness had stated a name
and in response to the question as to why he had stated the name,
Arsen Aghanikyan said: "It was still fresh back then."

It should be noted that during the trial Gagik Jhangiryan's attorney
Lusine Sahakyan stated that they had sent a letter to the European
Court to examine the cases of Gagik and Vardan Jhangiryan and others,
but it was unclear as to whether the court had received the letter
or not. "We established a connection with the European Court a couple
of days ago and found out that they had not received it."

The trial was postponed and the next one is scheduled for Monday at 12
p.m. Upon leaving the court room, Gagik Jhangiryan said to the crowd:
"We are going to win, no doubt."
