    A1+
    [01:02 pm] 25 September, 2008

The European Chess Junior Tournament is over and only two out of
the 23 Armenian chess players participating in the tournament in
Chernogoria won medals. In the tournament of the 16-year-old group
grosmeister Samvel Ter-Sahakyan won a silver medal, was ranked 2nd in
his group and is considered the real gold medal contender. Ukrainian
chess player Ilya Nizhnuk was ranked champion with 8 points, while
Hayk Vardanyan was ranked at 14th with 6 points in this age group.

Karen Grigoryan of the 14-year-old group won the bronze medal with 7
points, while Russian chess player Ivan Bukavshin scored 7.5 points
and was ranked champion. Grigoryan's success was unexpected due to
the fact that he was ranked 35th in his age group. Coming in at 12th
with 6 points from the 14-year-old group was Khachatur Yeranyan.

Siranush Ghukasyan from the girls' group was close to scoring a medal,
yet she ranked 13th with 6 points. The remaining 20 Armenian chess
players were ranked lower and couldn't score enough points to make
    it to the top ten.
