/PanARMENIAN.Net/ International talks on the Caucasus will open in
Geneva on Oct. 15, EU Enlargement Commission spokesperson said.

"The European Commission is hopeful that discussions on implementation
of the Medvedev-Sarkozy plan to alleviate the Georgian-South Ossetian
tensions will be launched," Krisztina Nagy said.

The agenda will also include discussion of stability and security
issues and return of refugees in compliance with international norms,
    RIA Novosti reports.

As to the status of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, Russian Foreign
Minister Sergei Lavrov said that "the matter is settled and Moscow
is not going to discuss it."

Russia recognized South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states
    on August 26.
