Assemblymember Krekorian Named Keynote Speaker at
Canadian Strategic Innovation Summit
Glendale, CA - Assemblymember Paul Krekorian will be the keynote
luncheon speaker at the Canada-California Strategic Innovation
Partnership (CCSIP) Summit in Montreal, Canada. Assemblymember
Krekorian will discuss his ongoing work as the leader of the Assembly's
bipartisan working group that is crafting legislation to expand
California's renewable portfolio standard. Krekorian's working group
has been tasked by Assembly Speaker Karen Bass with developing policies
that will maintain California's global leadership in promoting reliance
on renewable energy and combating climate change.
The CCSIP summit will bring together leading decision makers,
researchers and developers from academia, industry, government and the
investment community from California and Canada. The summit will
include discussions of policy development and potential strategic
alliances in areas such as carbon capture and sequestration, "Green IT"
(zero carbon cyber-infrastructure), stem-cell research, advanced
infectious diseases diagnostics, next-generation digital media, and
sustainable biofuels. The principal goal of the summit is to stimulate
new research, development and delivery of projects that offer economic
and social benefits to both jurisdictions.
"Under the leadership of Speaker Bass, the Assembly is moving forward
aggressively to liberate California's energy future from our dependency
on fossil fuels by generating at least 33% of our electricity from
renewable sources by 2025," said Assemblymember Krekorian. "I'm looking
forward to sharing our experience with the CCSIP participants and
exploring ways that we can strengthen the partnership between California
and Canada in this and other areas of innovation that are vital to our
collective future."
Assemblymember Paul Krekorian (D-Burbank) represents the cities of
Burbank and Glendale, and the Los Angeles communities of Atwater
Village, Los Feliz, North Hollywood, Silver Lake, Toluca Lake, Valley
Glen, Valley Village and Van Nuys.
