BRILLIANT START OF ARMENIAN CHESS PLAYERS

Armenian chess players made a brilliant start at the 38th Chess
Olympiad in Dresden.
In the first round of the tournament the men's team, current Olympic
Champion, defeated the team of Italy 4:0. Levon Aronyan defeated
Fabiano Caruano, Vladimir Hakobyan beat Sikele Godena. Gabriel
Sargsyan and Tigran Petrosyan defeated Luka Shitaji and Sabino
Berunelli respectively.
In the second round the Armenian chess players will meet the team
of Moldova.
In the women's competition the Armenian team defeated Italians 3.5:0.5.
In the second round the Armenian women's team will meet the Czechs.
Fourteen Armenians play in teams representing different countries. The
chief coach of the Russian team is Yuri Dokhoyan.
