YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. Armenia's Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan met today with IMF Deputy Managing Director Murilo Portugal
to discuss the ways to combat the effects of the global financial
    crisis on Armenia.

The premier introduced the IMF representative to the Armenian
government's approach to the issue and the country's policy focused
on macroeconomic stability and economic growth, the RA Government's
    Press Service reports.

Portugual has paid a visit to Armenia to participate in the
celebrations of the 15th anniversary of the Armenian dram.

The Armenian dram (AMD) was officially introduced as the national
currency of Armenia on November 22, 1993. The exchange rate was
initially set at 200 Russian roubles per AMD 1. Armenia has remained
loyal to its floating exchange rate policy since 1994.
