WHO IS TO MONITOR AND DEFEND CITIZENS' RIGHTS?

    A1+
    [07:58 pm] 04 March, 2009

The Central Bank's recent move to revert to a floating exchange rate
was led with a rough violation of citizen's rights. Human Rights
Defender Armen Harutyunyan says the Ombudsman's Office doesn't deal
    with such issues.

"Otherwise, the institute of a financial ombudsman wouldn't be set
up in Armenia," says Armen Harutyunyan.

The Ombudsman's Office forwards all economic complaints to the
Financial Ombudsman Piruz Sargsyan. The latter informed A1+ that
so far they haven't got any complaints from civilians or economic
entities regarding the rise in prices of essential goods.

"We have no right to monitor shops unless we are submitted with a
    written-complaint," says Piruz Sargsyan.
